Melanoma is a serious skin malignancy that requires close monitoring. Experience in digital follow-up (DFU) of patients at high risk for melanoma was described by Spanish researchers. The prospective surveillance of 618 patients covered a 10-year period (1999 to 2008) using DFU according to the 2-step method of: i) digital total-body photography and ii) digital dermoscopy. A total of 11,587 skin lesions with a mean 18.75 lesions per patient were monitored for a median duration of 96 months.
