A self-assessment score for patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) was developed based on the SCORing Atopic Dermatis (SCORAD) index and the patient-oriented SCORAD (PO-SCORAD). A prospective, single-center pilot study lasting 18 days was conducted in 33 AD patients (15 children and 8 adults). A modest correlation was found between SCORAD and PO-SCORAD (r = 0.46; P = 0.0006), but this improved between day 0 (r = 0.26; P = 0.14) and day 18 (r = 0.61; P = 0.0031). Eighty percent of subjects found that the questions were clear and 96% spent <10 min answering them (Vourch-Jourdain, M. et al. Br J Dermatol 2009, 161(Suppl.1): 116 Abst PA-4).
