A 1-year randomized, parallel group trial in 160 children (16 years or younger) evaluated quality of life (QoL) outcomes when they were allocated either to a nurse practitioner (n = 81) or a dermatologist (n = 79). Randomization was stratified by age (4 year or younger, or 4-16 years). The primary outcome measure was the change in QoL at 12 months as assessed by the Infants' Dermatitis Quality of Life Index (IDQOL) for children aged 4 years and younger, and the Children's Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) for those aged 4-16 years.
