Resource data were collected from 12-month randomized, double-blind trials in adults (n = 134) and children (n = 146) with atopic dermatitis (AD) treated with twice-weekly tacrolimus ointment (maintenance regimen) or vehicle (standard regimen). The number of flares was lower with maintenance than with standard regimens in adults and children. Data were analyzed according to moderate or severe disease states. For adults with moderate disease, flare numbers fell from a mean of 5.5 to 2.4 for vehicle and tacrolimus, respectively.
