14 - Parent egos: positive and negative
With respect to the Parent component and reviewing what we have just seen summarized previously, we recall that the positive nurturing Parent protects without excess, gives help when it is asked for, is tolerant of others' failures, allows growth, etc. However, in its negative aspect it spoils, overprotects, does for others what they should do by themselves, suffocates with its attention and does not allow growth. As for the controlling Parent, in its positive aspects it acts without high-handedness, makes fair demands, appeals to the other's sense of responsibility, stimulates growth and development. The negative controlling Parent acts in an authoritarian way and tends to put down, to humiliate and can be very arbitrary, it uses irony in very negative terms, in such a way that it can be interpreted as a mocking attitude.
