5 - The Parent
We will look at the Parent component in more detail. This comprises, in each of us, recordings of imposed external events, not subjected to criticism, which we perceive from birth until we are about five years old. We have to be careful with time limits because recent experience shows that we start recording before birth, and this recording in the Parent does not finish at the age of five. This component molds us to take charge of our lives and prepares us to become a responsible person (how you should be) and includes a huge collection of data acquired through the observations that each person makes of parents or other caretakers around them. This constitutes highly useful data that makes it possible for the child to learn to look after themselves. Every external situation in which the child feels dependent to the extreme of being unable to discuss or question things contributes data that is recorded in the Parent.
